A journey that began in 2009
Since 2009, the Rays of Youth (ROY) Program has walked alongside young people and communities on the Thailand–Myanmar border. This was never a one-time project. It has been a long-term commitment, carried year after year through challenges and changes, growing together and learning together.
2009 → 2026: 17 years of creating opportunities, one young person at a time.
What 17 years looks like
- 29,213 training participations: Each one is a young person who chose to show up, learn something new, and believe a little more in what they can do.
- 27,630 people reached through community events: Families, neighbours, and friends came together, because youth empowerment grows strongest when whole communities are part of it.
- 315 youth leaders graduated since 2013: These young people stepped forward, found their voice, and are now leading, mentoring, and inspiring others.
- 283 young people trained in vocational skills (2022–2025): Practical skills open doors to work, income, dignity, and a more hopeful future.
Behind every number is a name, a face, and a story of courage.
This award belongs to all of us!
- To every young person who joined a training, even when it took courage just to walk through the door.
- To every youth leader who stepped forward to lead.
- To every volunteer and Youth Board member who gave their time and ideas.
- To every staff member and mentor who listened, guided, and believed.

This award is not the end of the journey. It reflects 17 years of collective effort, and it reminds us to keep investing in the next generation.
It gives us renewed energy to keep creating spaces where young people can learn, build skills, take part in decisions, and lead positive change in their communities. When young people are given a real opportunity, when their voice is heard, they can change more than their own lives. They change the lives of everyone around them.
17 years behind us. A new generation ahead. And we keep moving forward, together.
